Do you know how Fourpole Creek got its name?

Fourpole Creek received its name from early explorers traveling the Ohio River. Tributaries to the Ohio River were measured at the mouth of the creek and recorded in poles. Being approximately 66 feet (4 poles) wide at its mouth, the creek was named  Fourpole Creek.
